# European Accessibility Act (EAA) Compliance Course

European Accessibility Act compliance for electronics, ICT and e-commerce: covered products and services, Annex I, EN 301 549, WCAG, exemptions and CE marking.

A checkout page that a screen reader user can't complete, a self-service kiosk with no audio output, an accessibility statement nobody has actually looked at since it was published — these are the ordinary, recurring ways electronics manufacturers, retailers, and digital service providers fall out of compliance with the European Accessibility Act, usually without realizing it until a complaint or a market surveillance request arrives. None of this is exotic. It's a scope, documentation, and testing problem, and it's fixable with the right framework applied methodically, not scrambled together after the fact. This course teaches Directive (EU) 2019/882 from first principles to complete practical compliance: the legal framework and why this is a directive rather than a regulation, exactly which product categories and service categories fall in scope, the microenterprise exemption and the disproportionate burden and fundamental alteration exceptions, the full Annex I functional requirements for both products and services, EN 301 549 and the WCAG POUR principles behind it, conformity assessment and CE marking for products, every economic operator role and its obligations, and category-by-category depth on self-service terminals, consumer computers and smartphones, e-readers and TV equipment, e-commerce across the full customer journey, banking services, and electronic communications and audiovisual media services. Every module ends with a knowledge check, and the closing modules walk market surveillance and enforcement realities across member states, the transitional periods that apply to existing terminals and contracts, a complete compliance program you can actually run, a full walkthrough of an electronics and e-commerce retailer built end to end, and your own thirty-ninety-day compliance action plan. Common failure patterns — treating accessibility as a one-time launch project, confusing disproportionate burden with fundamental alteration, letting a transitional allowance quietly expire — are covered as they occur throughout the course, not just listed once at the end. Built on Krono's regulatory database and current 2026 guidance covering the Directive's June 28, 2025 application date, EN 301 549's WCAG 2.1 AA baseline with WCAG 2.2 on the way, and enforcement activity now underway across France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and the Netherlands. This course contains the use of artificial intelligence for asthetic purposes.
