# Getting started

CertifiOS runs on a single search step — no separate market-selection screen, no questionnaire. Search your product, and your compliance plan generates immediately at [/platform/new](/platform/new). No account is required to start — you can create one later to save your progress.

## 1\. Search your product and market

Type what you're bringing to market (e.g. “smartphone”) or your product and market together (e.g. “CE marking radio equipment”). Search runs against the same structured product-type taxonomy used throughout the platform, with fuzzy matching against everyday product names — not just formal regulatory terms. Every result shows which market it would apply to, so you always know what clicking it does before you click it.

Krono covers nine markets: CE/EU, UK, US, India, Japan, UAE, Hong Kong, Canada, and Australia. If your query names a market, that market is used automatically. If it doesn't and your product type applies in more than one of the nine, you're asked which one before your plan generates — each project resolves to a single market (you can add more later; see "Selling in more than one market" below).

## No questionnaire

Earlier versions of CertifiOS asked follow-up questions before showing results. That step is gone — selecting a search result generates your full plan immediately. Requirements that depend on details the platform can't know up front (e.g. whether a device transmits radio signals) are still surfaced — they're flagged directly on the plan as conditional ("Only if: …"), rather than filtered out by an upfront questionnaire.

## Can't find your product?

If search doesn't turn up a match, there's a “can't find what you're looking for” option right on the search page — tell us what you're bringing to market and we'll email you a customized plan directly.

## Your plan

You land on `/platform/[project]/plan` — an ordered action plan, not a flat checklist. At the top, a "Next" card names the single most useful thing to do right now, with a button that takes you straight to it. Below that, every applicable document, test, and certification is grouped into five steps, in the order you'd actually work through them — see [your documents](/docs/generating-documents) for what each step means and how to actually produce what it asks for. Only the current step is expanded by default; the others collapse to a count so a large plan doesn't read as one long wall of cards. You can export the plan itself as PDF, Markdown, or DOCX from the project's `⋯` menu, and check items off as you complete them.

## The first time you open a plan

The first time, an inline card explains what you're looking at and offers two starting points: jump straight to the first item, or — if you've already made progress on this product outside CertifiOS — open a fast bulk check-off list instead of clicking each item one at a time. Right after that, you're asked whether you make, import, or resell the product (with "not sure yet" always a valid answer) — this narrows a handful of ongoing-duty items to what actually applies to your role in the supply chain.

## Selling in more than one market

A project can cover more than one market — add another from the project header's "+" control next to the market pills. When a project has more than one market, a market switcher appears above your plan so you can flip between each market's own plan; certificates, testing, and dates stay project-wide (not split per market), since those are genuinely one registry across your whole product, not one per market.

## Coming back later

Projects started without an account stay tied to your browser for 24 hours. Sign in (or create an account) at any point to save your progress permanently and come back to your plan later — this is free — there is no paid plan.
