Fix

Verify current OJ status before referencing standards

### Incorrect manufacturer information

Impact

Legal liability issues, importer responsibilities unclear

Fix

Use exact legal name and address as registered in EU

### Missing authorized representative (for non-EU manufacturers)

Impact

DoC invalid, non-EU manufacturers cannot sign directly

Fix

Appoint EU Authorised Representative and include their details

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What happens if my DoC has errors?

An incorrect DoC can lead to product recalls, market bans, and penalties. Market surveillance authorities may challenge the validity of your CE marking. Correct errors immediately and issue a revised DoC with version control.

### Can I correct a DoC after signing?

Yes, but you must issue a revised DoC with a new version number or date. Maintain both versions in your technical file with an explanation of the change. Never modify a signed DoC without proper version control.

### Do I need a new DoC for each product variant?

Not necessarily. If variants are covered by the same technical file and compliance assessment, one DoC can cover multiple variants. Document the scope clearly. Significant differences may require separate DoCs.

### Who can sign the DoC?

The DoC must be signed by the manufacturer or their EU Authorised Representative. For companies, an authorized signatory (director, compliance officer) can sign on behalf of the company. Ensure signatory has authority.

### Can I use a digital signature?

Yes, digital signatures are acceptable if they meet EU eIDAS requirements for electronic signatures. The signature must be uniquely linked to the signatory, capable of identification, and linked to the document in a way that detects changes.
