## Frequently asked questions

### What documents prove EPR compliance?

Key compliance documents: EPR Authorization Certificate from CPCB/SPCB; Recycler agreements or PRO contracts; Quarterly EPR returns filed on portal; Recycler certificates showing quantities processed; Invoices and transport documents; Bank records of payments to recyclers; Consumer awareness campaign records. Maintain these for 5+ years.

### Can I use the same recycler for multiple EPR categories?

Only if recycler is registered for each specific waste category. E-waste recycler may not handle battery waste unless separately registered. Always verify recycler's CPCB registration covers your specific waste type before entering agreement.

### What if I don't meet my EPR targets?

You must still file quarterly returns showing actual performance. CPCB calculates Environmental Compensation based on shortfall. Rates vary by category. You must also submit plan to bridge gap. Persistent non-compliance can lead to authorization suspension.

### Do I need separate EPR registration for each state?

Generally no - CPCB EPR Portal provides centralized registration covering all India. However, some states have additional requirements for operating within their jurisdiction. Check SPCB requirements for states where you have significant operations.

### What is the format of recycler certificates?

CPCB-prescribed format includes: Unique certificate number; Producer details; Waste type and quantity; Recycling method; Date of recycling; Recycler registration number; Authorized signatory. Certificates must be verifiable and auditable.

**Disclaimer:** This guide reflects current EPR rules under E-Waste 2022, Battery Waste 2022, and Plastic Waste Management Rules. Documentation requirements and portal procedures are subject to CPCB notifications.
