# Why Your FCC Module's Approval Doesn't Cover Your Full Product

You built your product around a certified Wi-Fi module. It has an FCC ID. You assume you are covered. You are probably not — and here is exactly why.

### What modular approval covers

Modular approval covers only the radio — the intentional transmitter, in tested antenna configurations. It doesn't cover unintentional emissions from your host board, or full-product Part 15 Subpart B compliance. It only holds if you follow every grant condition exactly.

### What you still need to test

Read the grant document on fccid.io before finalizing your design. Check the integration obligations section for required host testing. In most cases, you must test the complete product as an unintentional radiator. The module covers the radio; your PCB covers everything else.
