Any company outside the UK selling regulated products in Great Britain needs a UK Responsible Person — and this role is different from an EU Authorised Representative in ways that trip up many hardware companies. Selling regulated products in Great Britain from outside the UK? You need a UK Responsible Person — and it's not your EU Authorised Representative. You can't use the same entity for both roles. Here's what the UK Responsible Person must actually be and do.

### What the UK RP must be and do

The UK Responsible Person must be established in Great Britain — England, Scotland, or Wales. An EU entity doesn't qualify, even your current EU Authorised Representative. Their name and UK address must appear on the product or packaging. They must hold your Declaration of Conformity and technical file, ready for Trading Standards or OPSS. You need a separate entity from your EU AR.

### Appointing a UK RP

Expanding to Great Britain? Don't assume your EU AR covers both markets — you need a separate entity in England, Scotland, or Wales. Budget for the role, update your labelling with their address, and share your technical documentation before your first GB shipment.
